Motor Stator Pulling Parts: Which One Is Right for You?

Choose the right pulling part for your scrap motor stators and preferred method.

3T motor stator pulling parts include jaws, clamps, pullers and push-out rods for removing copper windings from stator cores.

The right pulling part depends on the stator type, diameter, and how you prefer to remove the copper windings. Even for the same stator, different pulling parts may be suitable, depending on the removal method.

To choose the right stator pulling part, consider three key factors: stator type, stator diameter and preferred removal method. Matching the attachment to your stator helps make copper winding removal faster, easier and more efficiency in daily recycling work.

Which motor stator pulling part should you choose?

For small and medium-sized stators, a multi-jaw or horizontal dual-side pulling system is often the most practical option.

For larger stators, a hydraulic lifting clamp or manual puller provides stronger gripping and pulling force for removing tightly wound copper.

For alternators, a push-out rod is more suitable for pushing the winding assembly out of the stator core. Explore our car alternator recycling machines for available equipment options.

Transformers and car starters have different internal structures, so the copper removal method should be evaluated separately. See the car starter recycling process for the preparation and copper extraction steps.

Start With the Stator, Not the Jaw Number

Do not choose a winding pulling part based on the number of jaws alone. The right setup depends on your stator type and size.

  • Identify stator type: Separate standard motor stators, alternator stators, transformers and starter components, as each may require a different copper removal method.

  • Measure stator outer diameter: Helping determine which pulling tool can fit and grip the stator correctly.

  • Choose suitable pulling part: You can select the appropriate machine on our website and request a quote, or send us your stator photos and dimensions for a recommendation.

If you are planning the complete motor recycling process, see our guide on how to remove copper from electric motors to understand where stator cutting and winding extraction fit into the dismantling process.

1. Jaw Pullers: Match the Pulling Head to Your Motor Stator

Jaw pullers grip the copper windings from multiple points and pull them evenly from the stator core. The right jaw head should be selected according to your stator diameter to ensure a secure grip, smooth pulling, and efficient copper removal.

ST-400 Jaw Sets with a Pushing Mechanism

ST-400 cutting and pulling machine is capable of pulling stators from 90 to 250 mm. Its pulling system combines pulling jaws, a stator fixture and pushing rods to remove copper windings efficiently after your stator has been split.

Available 2-jaw, 4-jaw and 6-jaw sets are different options for ST-400 and you can freely choose according to your stator pulling requirements.

8/12/16-jaw pulling heads are available on BSM-40 electric motor recycling machines. You can also integrate them on multifunctional electric motor recycling machine.

  • 8-Jaw Pulling Head: Commonly suitable for smaller stators with diameter between 40-120 mm.

  • 12-Jaw Pulling Head: Fit for extracting copper windings from stator up to 140 mm in diameter.
  • 16-Jaw Pulling Head: Capable of separating copper coils from motor stators up to 180 mm.

Dual-Side Jaws for Small Stators

BSM-70 pulling machine is designed with dual-side gripping jaws, which can process stator range of 40–200 mm.

2. Pulling Clamps: Flexible Handling for Larger Stators

When a fixed jaw head cannot handle a larger stator, our pulling clamp offers a more flexible way to grip and remove the copper windings.

Hydraulic Lifting Clamp

Hydraulic lifting clamp grips the exposed copper winding and pulls it out, widely used on BSM-30 motor winding puller and BSM-40. You can choose hydraulic lifting clamp when stator diameter is larger than 180mm, up to 500mm.

Manual Rear Pulling Clamp

Manual rear clamp on 5-in-1 motor dismantling machine provides an additional position for removing copper windings from electric motor stators. It is especially useful when a stator is difficult to handle with the main pulling head or when an extra pulling position can improve motor dismantling workflow.

3. Push-Out Rod for Compatible Stators and Alternators

A push-out rod removes copper windings by pushing against stator while the stator core is securely supported in a matching fixture. Mini BST cutting and pulling machine uses this method for stators dimeters of 50–200 mm. Besides, push-out rod can also pull copper from automotive generator stators.

4. Transformers and Car starters require separate pulling parts

Four-jaw pulling for small transformers

Transformers have a different core and winding structure from motor stators, so 3T specially designed transformer cutting and pulling machine which uses a four-jaw pulling system to remove the copper winding from transformer with an outer diameter below 100 mm.

Before selecting a pulling tool for your transformer, please send us clear photos of the transformer core, winding structure, and overall dimensions, so that we can confirm whether the standard four-jaw system is suitable and customize a right one for you.

Dedicated Pulling Machine for Car Starters

Car starters require a dedicated recycling process including cutting, pressing and heating before copper winding is pulled out, and 3T’s Autostarter-Zugmaschine adopts 6 small hydraulic cylinders to pull copper out, really special.

What to Confirm Before Ordering

To recommend the right motor stator pulling part, we first need to understand your scrap stator. The most useful information covers the smallest, largest and most difficult motors or stators you regularly handle. So please provide:

  • Material photos: Show the complete motor or stator pictures so that we can identify what type it is.

  • Key dimensions: Provide the stator outside diameter.

  • Current preparation method: Let us know whether the housing has already been removed and whether copper windings is exposed.

  • Existing equipment: If you still have one Motor-Abschleppmaschine, send photos and the problems you want to solve.

  • Production requirements: Share your power supply, color and other requirements.

With these information ,we can select the right pulling part easily and efficiently.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Does more jaws mean better pulling performance?

No. More jaws only mean wider pulling range, each kind of jaw puller has best pulling perdormance, do not worry, just choose the right jaw puller according to your stators.

Can every stator winding be removed in one pulling cycle?

No, it depends on pulling method and stator diameters, jaw-puller can remove copper windings in one cycle, if large stators, clamp and rod need to extract more than once.

How can I process a mixed load of scrap motor stators?

You need to sort them first by motor type and stator diameters, then we will recommend a multifunctional motor recycling machine for you.
